Textile Forum workshop

I spent a fab week at the Ballarat textile forum over Easter, doing a week long workshop with Meredith Wollnough. She is a very talented artist creating amazing  art pieces using her sewing machine and thread. Below is my final piece for the week.

Sketch on tracing paper.

Transfer sketch to water soluble fabric, place in a hoop, begin free motion stitch technique.

finished stitching.

rinse the fabric away, let dry then mount finished piece.

Paper hat

This punched heart flower is from a previous post, below is the progress for a paper hat/fascinator.

Components, everyone says the top hat looks like a tea cup! Oh well,

Antique look was achieved with sepia watercolour. Just needs to be attached to a head band and it will be completed.

Another sample

Another sample for demo day using the new tag punch, you can punch the tag, punch the hole and set the eyelet all with the one punch, too easy.

Life Book week 7.

This is my take on the lesson for week 7 by Jill K. Berry. The heart community book. Not really something that I would normally think of to create but I enjoyed creating it. It will go in an envelope in the Lifebook when I put all the pages together at the end.
Fold the page into four (concertina fold) and sketch a figure, making sure the sketch goes off the edge, then cut out through all four layers. I gave all mine different hair styles by cutting the heads individually.
Dress them up with some collage, paint and embellishments. Cut the window in each.
Place a little something in each window.

Lifebook week 7 part one

This is my take on the heart community book lesson with Jill K. Berry.
This is also a little different to what I would normally create, it was fun and I like the result.

Another girl based on first lesson in LB2015

Sketch and first layers of skin tone using the technique from lesson one in Life Book 2015.
Book page for pinafore, few more skin tone layers, acrylic red paint and black permanent marker.
Antique the pinafore with burnt siena water colour wash and prismacolour pencils, finish skin tone and add eye colour using tombow markers, then add high lights and low lights.
The background is made by stamping snow flakes with versa mark ink pad, then add pan pastel once the ink has dried. Lastly I added some crystal glitter to the pom pom.
